Technical Analysis of Drag Cable for Tensile Shovel Loader
In mining operations, the tensile-type cable dragged by shovels and trucks is the 'power nerve' that ensures the operation of equipment, and its performance directly affects mining efficiency and safety. Shanghai Suoqi has been deeply engaged in this field, and the cables it has developed can cope with complex mining environments.
1. The core challenges of the mining environment for drag cables
(1) Mechanical stress impact
Continuous dragging and stretching: When the loader moves, the cable must withstand its own weight, the traction of the equipment, and the tension caused by terrain variations, with the force becoming more pronounced during long-distance operations.
High-frequency friction and wear: Continuous contact with rough surfaces such as crushed stone and slag can easily damage ordinary cable sheaths, affecting internal structure.
Accumulation of torsional stress: When the equipment turns, the cable twists. Excessive twisting in narrow passages may cause conductor breakage, leading to electrical faults.
(2) Harsh environmental erosion
Extreme temperature difference impact: Large temperature fluctuations (from -30°C to above 50°C) cause thermal expansion and contraction of materials, reduced insulation performance, and accelerated aging of the sheath.
Chemical corrosion threats: Acidic mine water, mine dust impurities, and lubricating oil can corrode sheaths and insulation layers, shortening cable lifespan.
Moisture and water flood risk: In environments where groundwater seeps or standing water, moisture intrusion accelerates insulation aging, increasing the risk of electric leakage and short circuits.
2. Technological breakthroughs in Shanghai Suoqi Cable
(1) Conductor structure optimization
High-purity material applications: Uses over 99.99% oxygen-free copper to reduce resistance loss, improve electrical and thermal conductivity, and decrease heat generation during large current transmission.
Precision Twisting Process: Multi-strand fine copper wire is specially twisted and annealed, optimizing pitch design to enhance flexibility and tensile strength, and can withstand frequent bending and tensile stretching.
(2) Insulation and Sheath Innovation
Insulation layer upgrade: Using cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) as the main material, with added special additives to enhance voltage resistance, heat resistance, and aging resistance, adapting to complex electrical environments.
Special Sheath R&D:
Polyurethane (PUR) sheath: has several times the wear resistance of ordinary rubber, combining tear resistance, oil resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance.
Thermoplastic elastomer (TPEE): combines the softness of rubber with the high strength of plastic, enhancing fatigue resistance and impact resistance, and after special treatment, it improves waterproof and moisture-proof capabilities.
(3) Tensile Structure Design
Built-in high-strength components: Kevlar fiber braided layer (several times stronger than steel of the same mass) or galvanized aviation soft steel wire rope, to bear tension and prevent the core from breaking.
Overall structural optimization: adopting a concentric layout, with the conductor at the center, and the insulation layer, tensile elements, and sheath wrapped sequentially, achieving uniform stress distribution and avoiding localized stress concentration.
3. Practical Application Results
(1) Improve production efficiency
After a large iron mine replaced the cable of the rope excavator, the downtime due to faults was reduced, the continuous operating time of the shovel increased, the ore transportation volume improved, and the overall efficiency of the mine increased by more than 30%.
(2) Reduce overall costs
Reduce maintenance frequency: After being used by a certain non-ferrous metal mine, maintenance decreased from 3-4 times per month to 1-2 times per quarter, saving labor and downtime losses.
Extended service life: Ordinary cables have a lifespan of 6-12 months, while Suoqi cables can reach 2-3 years, reducing annual maintenance and replacement costs by about 50%.
(3) Strengthen operational safety
Stable power transmission: Ensures the continuous operation of shovels and auxiliary equipment such as ventilation and monitoring, reducing the risk of accidents in hazardous areas.
Reliable insulation protection: Waterproof, moisture-proof, and insulation performance ensure no electric leakage in humid environments, protecting the safety of personnel.
