To choose a more reliable trolley-drag winding cable, it is necessary to comprehensively consider factors such as the cable's performance parameters, usage environment, and structural design, as detailed below:
Consider the usage environment:
Temperature: If working in a high-temperature environment, high-temperature resistant cables need to be selected, such as types that can normally operate at 70°C-120°C; in a low-temperature environment, cables with good low-temperature flexibility should be chosen, such as some polyurethane cables that can be used in -40°C environments.
Humidity and Chemical Corrosion: In humid environments or environments with chemical substances, such as chemical workshops, cables that are hydrolysis-resistant and chemically corrosion-resistant should be chosen. Polyether polyurethane-sheathed cables are a better choice.
Dust and wear levels: In places with a lot of dust and heavy wear, such as mines, special attention should be paid to the wear resistance of cables. Polyurethane-sheathed cables have excellent wear resistance and are suitable for such environments.
Pay attention to mechanical performance:
Bending radius: Based on the trolley movement trajectory, calculate the required bending radius and select a cable with an appropriate dynamic bending radius. For high-frequency winding, choose a cable with a smaller dynamic bending radius to reduce mechanical fatigue.
Conductor materials and structures: Stranded conductors have excellent flexibility and are the mainstream choice. Cables made of ultra-fine copper wires can be selected, and the conductor cross-sectional area should be reasonably chosen according to current-carrying capacity and mechanical strength requirements.
Sheath material: Polyurethane (PU) sheath has good wear resistance, suitable for frequent dragging scenarios; thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) is flexible and environmentally friendly without halogens, suitable for indoor environments with high flame-retardant requirements. For outdoor or oily environments, neoprene or specially modified polyurethane sheaths can be chosen.
Tensile strength: According to the pulling force that the cable may bear during trolley dragging, select cables with sufficient tensile strength. Cables with tensile elements such as Kevlar fibers or steel wires can be chosen to prevent the cable from being pulled apart during dragging.
Determine electrical performance:
Rated voltage and current: Based on the trolley's power, voltage, and other parameters, select cables with suitable rated voltage and current carrying capacity to ensure the cable meets the trolley's power needs without overload.
Shielding requirements: If the trolley has signal transmission needs, such as being equipped with sensors or control systems, cables with shielding layers must be selected. For high-frequency signals, it is recommended to choose a shielding layer with a braid density of ≥85%, or use a composite structure of aluminum foil and braid.
Consider cable compatibility with equipment:
Drag chain compatibility: If the cable is used in conjunction with a drag chain, the cable's outer diameter, weight, and torsional resistance must be compatible with the drag chain specifications. The fill rate of the cable in the drag chain is recommended to be controlled at 30%-50%.
Compatibility with reels: Different types of reels have different cable requirements. For example, spring reels are recommended to use lightweight cables, while electric reels should prioritize tensile-strength cables. At the same time, ensure that the slot diameter matches the cable diameter to avoid cable slot jamming or idling.
Other factors:
Cable length: Determine the appropriate cable length based on the movement range of the trolley and the installation location to avoid being too short or too long.
Maintenance costs: Give priority to cables that are durable and easy to install. Consider manufacturers that offer customized services, so that cable length and other parameters can be adjusted according to actual needs, reducing long-term usage costs.
