When selecting polyurethane drag-resistant cables, it is necessary to comprehensively consider factors such as the application environment, mechanical properties, and electrical performance. The following are specific points:
Consider the application environment:
Temperature: Understand the temperature range in which the cable will operate. If it is used in low-temperature environments, choose a cable that can remain flexible in low temperatures, such as polyether polyurethane cables, which can be used in mobile installation environments from -35℃ to 120℃. In high-temperature environments, ensure that the cable will not be damaged by overheating to the insulation or sheath. Generally, polyurethane cables can operate normally within the range of 70℃ to 120℃.
Humidity and chemical corrosion: In humid or chemical-containing environments, such as waste treatment plants or chemical workshops, cables with good water and chemical corrosion resistance should be selected. Polyurethane cables generally have good resistance to mineral oil, alcohol-free gasoline, water, and many solvents, but polyester-type polyurethane may face microbial decomposition risks in long-term humid and warm environments, while polyether-type polyurethane is relatively more resistant to hydrolysis.
Dust and wear level: In situations with high dust or where cables frequently come into contact with rough surfaces, such as mines or construction sites, special attention should be paid to cable wear resistance. Choose polyurethane cables with excellent sheath wear resistance, which can resist cuts, scratches, and abrasions.
Pay attention to mechanical requirements:
Tensile strength: Choose cables with appropriate tensile strength based on the tension they may be subjected to during actual use. For cables used in equipment such as garbage lifting grabs, because they need to frequently lift heavy objects, they must have high tensile strength to prevent breaking during operation.
Bending radius: Consider the cable bending during equipment operation to ensure the selected cable has a minimum bending radius that meets the requirements. Although polyurethane cables are flexible, they also have their bending radius limits. If the bending radius is too small, it will affect cable lifespan and even cause malfunctions.
Impact Resistance: In situations where mechanical impact may occur, such as port loading and unloading sites, cables need to have good impact resistance to withstand impacts from falling heavy objects. Polyurethane cables have relatively good impact resistance and can meet such requirements.
Determine electrical performance:
Rated voltage and current: According to the power, voltage, and other parameters of the equipment, select cables with appropriate rated voltage and current carrying capacity to ensure that the cables can meet the power requirements of the equipment and will not be overloaded. Generally, polyurethane drag-resistant and wear-resistant cables have rated voltages such as 300/500V.
Shielding requirements: If the equipment is sensitive to electromagnetic interference, such as servo systems and signal control systems, cables with shielding layers should be selected. Common polyurethane cables are equipped with braided or aluminum foil shielding layers, which can effectively block external electromagnetic interference and prevent high-frequency signal leakage.
Other considerations:
Cable specifications and length: Choose the appropriate cable specifications and length according to the installation space and the range of movement of the equipment. Specifications include conductor cross-sectional area, etc., which must meet the current transmission requirements; if the length is too short, it cannot meet the equipment's movement needs, and if it is too long, it will cause waste and inconvenience in management.
Connection method: Consider the way the cable connects to the equipment, such as plugs, sockets, etc., to ensure the connection is solid and reliable, and convenient for installation and maintenance.
Standards: Choose relevant cable products, such as ensuring that the cables meet safety, environmental, and other requirements, and that quality is guaranteed.
